The coconut tree grows abundantly in Sri Lanka and plays a big part in its economy. Every part of the tree is used as well as the delicious coconut itself - the shell; the palm leaves (for roofing and baskets); and the tree trunk wood. These coconut wood products have a simple, rustic charm and an unusual, striking grain. Each item is individually hand-turned, stained with a preservative wax, and finished with an environmentally-friendly and food-safe water-based polish. The bigger bowls are ideal for fruit, bread rolls and salads, while the smaller ones are suitable for snacks such as crisps and nuts. The coconut shell bowls are sanded and hand polished with a natural, food-safe beeswax.
